Plating Grace - Father Leo Feeds - Monte Cristo Sandwiches

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Number of Servings: 1

  • 3 pieces of white bread with crust removed
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 2 thin slices of Brie Cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp. Maple Syrup

Beat together eggs with water and vanilla extract. Lightly coat both sides of each piece of bread in the egg mixture.

Assemble a simple triple-decker sandwich by placing 2 slices of ham and a thin layer of cheese between each piece of bread. Put sandwich together and cut diagonally to make 2 small triangles.

Dip each triangle of the sandwich on all sides into the batter once again, and coat all sides of sandwich in bread crumbs. In a nonstick frying pan, melt butter over medium heat and place the sandwich flat in the pan for approximately 1 to 2 minutes. Do this on each side. The egg batter around the sandwich edges should also be cooked; use tongs to hold the sandwich together while allowing the edges to cook for about 30 seconds on each exposed side. Drizzle the sandwich with warm maple syrup.
